A Look Back at Haven Kids Ministry
The year 2019 was busy and fun for the Children’s Ministry Department! Early in the year the children had fun at a Valentine’s party while their parents had an evening out.
We welcomed Spring with our annual Easter Egg hunt and breakfast bonanza where the children heard the Resurrection story and hunted nearly 1,000 eggs! We held several “5th Sunday” events when we planted flowers, made cards for nursing home residents, and had a puppy shower for Matt Calhoun and his specialty trained new service dog, Bega.
New to Haven Sunday School
During the past year all Sunday School teachers were thrilled to welcome new students: Caleb, DJ, KJ, and siblings Emily, Sabrina, John and Liz. We even have two new babies, Evan and Jules now! When the new school year began, Ansley, Bella, and Oluoma moved up to the 2nd – 5th grade class, and Marcus moved up to the Youth Dept.

Christmas
With Christmas approaching, all Sunday School classes made cards for nursing home and independent-living residents. We celebrated Jesus’ birth, enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet, and made Christmas tree ornaments.
During this same Sunday’s worship service the children participated by passing out M & M’s to every single person and then told the story of The first Christmas story with these little candies.
The three year olds through fifth grade students did a magnificent job at Haven’s annual Christmas Concert, performing four Christmas carols. Although the endless trays of cookies were scrumptious – the real treat was hearing these precious children sing of Christmas joys and Jesus’ birth.
