November Newsletter

It may be hard for you to believe, but it is already THAT time of year. That’s right, Advent is upon us. Advent begins this year on December 1.

There will be an Advent Booklet we will distribute to help you and your family observe the different aspects of this joyful season. I hope you can be here every service as we prepare for the coming of our Lord through the baby Jesus!

Thank you to everyone that came out to join us for the annual Harvest Festival this year. We had 375 people here at Haven and we had a blast meeting so many wonderful new faces and gathering around the fire pit for s’mores.

Special “Thanks” to the Rockdale JROTC’s that came out to support as volunteers for our game/food stations. Last, but not least, our faithful members who dedicated so much time to making this event possible. We appreciate you and all your hard work that helped created such a fun festival this year.

Youth Holiday Baskets Haven Fellowship Church, Conyers GA

Care for those in Need
The Youth are gearing up for their season of holiday giving.  They are asking that the congregation donate canned food items this year to help stock the Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets they share with families in need right here in our community.  Please have all canned goods for Thanksgiving dropped off in the church lobby by Sunday, November 17th and they will continue to collect for Christmas through December.
Operation Christmas Child

Giving to those in need and sharing the Good News of Jesus is one of the best ways to celebrate Christmas.  When you pack a Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe box you are sharing hope and love with children around the world. Our church will be collecting packed boxes in the sanctuary and invite you to pack a box and share God’s love.

Each box is filled with both practical and fun gifts for boys or girls. Check out Samaritan’s Purse website for gift ideas and written guide to see the official instructions for packing an Operation Christmas Child shoe box.  Shoe boxes are due to Haven by the morning service on November 24.

Christmas at Haven

We will be “Hanging the Green” on Saturday, November 30th at 8:30 am. Join us as we decorate the church for Christmas and enjoy a time of fellowship with coffee and donuts. Remember, as Rob Mason says, “many hands make light work”.

Poinsettia plants are available for $8.50 each and can be given in honor of or in memory of someone special in your life.  Place your order here on the website or pick up an order form in the church lobby. The deadline to order is November 17th.

Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held on Tuesday, December 24th at 6 PM.  This is a quiet time of reflection and singing as we celebrate our Savior’s birth.

holiday Schedule at Haven

There will be no Wednesday evening services on 11/27, 12/25 and 1/1 due to the holidays.

The church office will be closed 11/27-29 for Thanksgiving and 12/24-27 and 1/1 for the Christmas and New Year holidays.  In case of an emergency contact Pastor Ernie at 404-414-8781 or Josh Gribble at 229-454-4354.

christmas card mailbox
The Christmas card mailbox will be set up in the hallway at church beginning Sunday, December 1. Please consider donating money saved on postage to Haven’s Missions.

Haven’s annual Christmas Program and Cookie Fellowship will take place on 12/8 at 6 PM. This year the choir will present, HOPE, an upbeat gospel Christmas celebration.

We can’t wait for you to join us for this wonderful musical celebration and that it reinforces the hope you have through Christ.

The Fellowship Team will be hosting a cookie fellowship following the concert. They are asking the congregation to provide cookie/candy trays (2 dozen each).

Please plan to bring your goodies ready to serve on a plate or tray on Sunday morning, December 8.  Please label all plates/trays and leave them in the kitchen.
